Sway (Hitting)

What it is:

Shifting weight backward away from the pitcher during the loading phase

Why it matters:

Wasted motion; disrupts timing and reduces ability to transfer energy forward.

Good mechanics in this phase look like:

Staying centered, coiling over the back hip instead of drifting backward.

How to address it:

  • Drills: No-stride swings, “coil and go,” mirror balance drills.

  • Cues: “Stay stacked over your back hip.”
