What it is:

Back hip lifting upward instead of rotating around.

Why it matters:

Loses ability to rotate and drive through the hip, leaking power.

Good mechanics in this phase look like:

Back hip stays down, rotates around instead of hiking up.

How to address it:

  • Drills: “Heel connection” drill (keep back heel grounded longer), hip rotation wall drill.

  • Cues: “Turn, don’t lift.”
